| I am a
Computer Science Professor at the University of Basel since 1987. I received
a diploma in computer science from the University of Stuttgart, Germany,
and a PdD degree and Venia Legendi (Habilitation) from the Swiss Federal
Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. I have held several positions
such as President of the Swiss Informatics Society SI / Swiss Chapter of
the ACM (1990-92), member of the expert group Swiss Priority Programme in
Informatics Research (1991-96), and cofounder and board member of the SPEEDUP
association. My research interests include parallel and distributed processing,
web technologies, e-learning, and software development. Currently , I am
involved in the two Virtual Campus Switzerland projects NanoWorld and PharmaSquare,
as well as a KTI project in the area of high-performance computing. |
