Prerequisites Mandatory: Foundations of Programming, Programming Project, Web Data Management.
Recommended (but not mandatory): Databases, Software Engineering, Programming Paradigms, Multimedia Retrieval
Objectives The goals of this seminar are twofold:
- become familiar with novel concepts for multi-modal information interaction, especially in the context of (multimedia) information retrieval
- become familiar with existing software packets and tools for analyzing and processing information in different modalities and for interacting with this information
Contents The seminar will address the conceptual design and implementation of multi-modal user interaction in multimedia retrieval settings. It will feature seminar presentations on current topics on multi-modal information access and a project part in which these concepts are implemented in vitrivr, an open source multimedia search engine and distributed database (https://www.vitrivr.org/)
Literature Will be provided during the seminar.
